Fishing and Waders: Everything You Need to Know

Fishing and Waders: Everything You Need to Know

In 2018, there were just under 30 million paid fishing license holders in the country. Many of those fishers use hunting waders to get in the water without worrying about their clothes getting wet or feeling what's inside. Since you'll likely spend a lot of time in your wader boots, It's important to understand why you need the best wader shoes possible.

Know the Difference

There are several different types of hunting waders on the market. One of these waders is called gator wader boots. These heavy duty waders are used meant to stay warm and are all full body. They have hunting waders for ideal temperatures, such as one for 60 to 90 degrees F, while also having some meant for all types of weather. Meanwhile, frogg toggs waders offer a wider selection of waders. Some have pockets in the front to hold fishing supplies and have hip waders for sale. However, the price is also much higher. Depending on what your own needs are, look into various brands to understand what makes one wader truly unique from the other. All hunting waders have the same concept, but that doesn't mean it's the best one for you.

The Use of the Wader

Each wader has its own uses. If you consider using it for hunting, you're going to want camo hunting waders. There are waders that use bright colors, which are usually meant more to look fashionable than actually be functional. For an activity like fishing, these colors may not matter as much, but when you're out hunting, it's harder to blend in. You'll also need a waterproof or near waterproof wader for fishing because you'll be in the water all the time. However, you don't really need your hunting wader to be water resistant unless you're in the rain. Even then, it might not be worth the cost long term.

Neoprene vs Breathable Waders

While both are used for a hunting wader, the main difference between these two is the material it's made from. Neoprene is a rubber material that is often used for waterfowl waders. It's harder to field patch and great for all kinds of weather. However, it's bulky and can be too warm if the weather is hot. Breathable waders are usually made of synthetic, lightweight material. It's versatile and resists snagging, but it also isn't too warm and can rip easily. Whichever one you decide on is based on your own preferences, but it's always great to have all the information you can before investing in a hunting wader.
